Since 2003, the U.E. has included PZT in its legislation as dangerous substances and to be replaced by other harmless materials. The HEcATE project proposes to manufacture lead-free piezoelectric materials with the main objective of achieving high electromechanical performance. Ceramics (industrial process), single crystals (low-cost growth) and textured ceramics will be manufactured for medical and underwater applications.
