BTXI-APOGEE

In progress

The BTXI-APOGEE project concerns the synthesis and characterization of benzothioxanthene (BTXI) and its derivatives. Belonging to the family of rylenes, the latter has not, until now, benefited from the popularity of perylenes and naphthalenes. Exclusively functionalized by its imide group and only used for bioimaging, we have very recently published the selective monobromination conditions of benzothioxanthene, making it compatible with the main catalyzed C-C pallado coupling reactions. The preparation of pi-conjugated molecules has demonstrated the potential of this block for photoconversion and energy storage applications. Therefore, these proofs of concept open very promising perspectives for the use of benzothioxanthene for applications in organic electronics.
