RECAP

In progress

The importance of implantable medical devices (IMDs) is now clearly recognized by many national and international health authorities. In fact, this is an industry that has been experiencing annual growth of almost 10% for several years. The democratization of these technologies foreshadows the medicine of tomorrow: follow-up of the patient at home, development of targeted therapy techniques, The RECAP project is fully aligned with this dynamic, addressing one of the key levers needed to expand access to appropriate EMR: their energy autonomy. In this context, we propose to design a non-contact energy transfer chain combining ultrasonic power transmission (around 1 µW/cm2) and electrostatic energy recovery. The efficacy of the ensemble will be evaluated in vitro and in vivo, as part of the development of mouse models dedicated to the monitoring and therapeutic treatment of major depression. The challenge is to optimize each element of the transfer chain by developing, for the first time, 1) mixed energy recovery architectures, combining electrostatic and piezoelectric devices, and 2) high efficiency electronic energy conversion architectures for micro power sources.
