For several years, Energiestro has been developing flywheel energy storage, which has the advantage over batteries to have an unlimited lifetime. The development of intermittent renewable energies is creating a strong demand for cost-effective storage, but the cost of buying today's steel and carbon fiber flywheels remains much higher than that of batteries, which is an obstacle at their commercial start. Energiestro invented and patented a technology that makes it possible to use concrete to produce flywheels that are much cheaper than current wheels. Energiestro's tour de force is to have solved the incompatibility between flywheels, which work in traction, and concrete, whose tensile strength is very low. This is a breakthrough innovation that can allow the generalization of storage. The object of the project is the realization of a validation prototype of a concrete steering wheel.
