The manufacture of polymer material parts, particularly for the storage of hydrogen, meets increasingly complex specifications. Optimization of manufacturing processes is necessary. Through this project, we propose the development of an ultrasonic characterization tool of the polymer material during the manufacturing process. This tool will allow the non-destructive and in situ characterization of mechanical, physicochemical and geometrical properties. The viscosity and the thickness of the polymer can be measured. Thus, better control of the manufacturing processes will improve the properties of the materials formed on the one hand and on the other hand to optimize industrial processes resulting in a significant decrease in the energy consumed during the formation of parts. The development of a demonstrator on a prototype rotomoulder will be carried out. This will test innovative compositions of polymeric materials meeting hydrogen storage specifications in tanks with higher pressures than those currently achieved with comparable technologies. The tool thus developed may, in addition, be adapted to all existing thermoplastic processes.
