Our vision, our ambition, our projects Our VISION is to create a national and international reference network, bringing together companies and research organisations, in the fields of electrical energy technologies and of the smart grids. Our AMBITION is to contribute to reinforcing the competitiveness of our members by the emergence, the construction and the success of innovative projects resulting from partnerships between companies, public and private research centres and training organisations. Our PROJECTS aim to design, develop, produce and market economically viable products and/or systems, with true technological advances, respectful of the environment and addressed to international markets. We also wish to contribute to position the Centre region as the « European centre of excellence for energy efficiency ». 	Our positioning
	Facing the challenges of climate change and of the need to free ourselves from fossil energies, S2E2 aims to mobilise technological competences and the potentialities of its members and their partners, in order to establish innovating and relevant industrial solutions, bring answers to these global and crucial environmental challenges, propose alternatives to the current products and technologies. Whether relating to materials, processes, components, systems or subsystems, or finished products, the projects of the S2E2 Cluster have a common denominator: obtaining significant savings as regards energy efficiency. Thus, S2E2 is in full harmony with the dynamic and the prospects of the French Grenelle of the Environment.

The S2E2 Cluster / Our development

It will pass by:

Expanding the territory towards the bordering areas, in particular the mid-west (Pays de Loire, Poitou-Charentes…), in order to widen the network of competences, and thus the framework of the S2E2 Cluster.

Reinforced co-operation with the three other energy Clusters:

CAPENERGIES (PACA),
DERBI (Languedoc-Roussillon),
TENERRDIS (Rhône-Alpes),

and with ELOPSYS (Limousin), centered on microwaves technologies, photonic and protected networks.

Actions and events with international significance.

Genesis of the S2E2 Cluster

The successful experimentation initiated in 1996 at Tours in the Centre region of France, of a platform uniting Company-University research facilities proved the relevance of such an approach: the CERTeM (Research and Studies Centre in Micro-electronics), established in the heart of an industrial site and financially supported by the local communities and the government, today includes nearly thirty researchers.

From this experiment, a regional partnership grew joined by several dozens of companies of all sizes as well as public research organisations, having developed complementary and high level of competences in the fields of electrical energy, making possible the creation of the Cluster S2E2 Sciences and Systems of Electrical Energy.

Recognized by the French government in July, the S2E2 Cluster took an associative form on September 12th, 2005.
