Activities / Markets concerned
|
The S2E2 Cluster aims to optimise the consumption of electrical energy from its source (production) to its use including storage, conversion and distribution:

In this perspective, S2E2 addresses 3 markets identified as follows:
|
| |
1 - Energy management in the building |
|
| |
In new buildings as well as in renovation, the S2E2 Cluster aims to be the catalyst, supporting and promoting all new technologies leading to:
- « intelligent buildings », putting the ever more efficient resources of power electronics and the ICT in service of the optimisation of energy use, as well as the wellbeing and safety of the occupants,
- integrated energy production, including « energy positive » buildings.
Working with industrialists, construction professionals, university laboratories, specialised organisations (ADEME, CSTB…) will allow the S2E2’s actors to develop and industrialise innovative products and systems, taking into account both the technological and social needs and constraints, inherent in this extraordinarily important sector.

Some examples of R & D subjects:
Presence and human activity detection, energy measuring, smart sensors, smart power switches, power-line communication, RF network, network connections, smart building, data-analysis and system control, energy-efficient LED lighting… |

|
|
| |
2 - Energy efficient equipment |
|
| |
 |
Whether « chips », components, electronic sets or subsets, electronic products or electrical household appliances for the general public, industrial equipment - connected to the network or autonomous - energy efficiency and waging war on all forms of energy loss are permanent and vital objectives for sustainable development.
Working on new materials, new architectures, new hardware or software solutions, the S2E2’s actors will contribute to improve electrical energy efficiency, throughout its « route » via all the different and necessary stages: conversion, switching, regulation, protection, distribution and finally consumption.
Particularly, sensors have a huge potential due to their miniaturisation, bringing ever more numerous and more specialised information into ever more efficient systems.

Some examples of R & D subjects:
Architecture of converters, new topologies, high energy switches, power devices, new semiconductor materials (Sic, GaN,…), miniaturised and autonomous sensors, surrounding energy sensors, 3D integrations, packaging, connectors … |

3 - New energy sources |
|
| |
The new energy sources, mainly solar photovoltaic, wind and hydrogen, are certain of strong development.
It is essential to work on the improvement of their performances and their output, and also on conversion systems, regulation and storage of electrical energy.
For that, S2E2’s actors have a broad range of competences, mainly in wind energy and fuel cells.
